“Things I Observed in the 2000s.”

Inspired by the January “The Meaning of Life” issue of Esquire & the Vanity Fair feature on the Proust Questionnaire in the November issue.  Done in honor of Twitters 4^th birthday.

10 observations coming from incredible experiences I had during each year of the decade & 4 #Bonus as a toast to Twitter turning 4.

Each 140 characters or less, of course.

1. Be a zealous advocate of the community that you represent, whether big or small. But especially small.
2. Men lie. Women Lie. Numbers Lie…depending on who does your books. #Enron #Madoff
3. The pursuit, attainment & preservation of “power” is a seductive & awesome affair. The risk is it’s also 0 Sum; either you got it or you don’t.
4. A student in Britain & BBall player in Italy meet up in Pavia & Milan. Foreign & domestic, people from Tallulah are (comfortable)everywhere.
5. …Shun not the struggle for it is God’s gift. Be Strong. Be Strong. Be Strong.
6. Downside of The Grind is you can crack your engine. You have to govern your speed & be patient. Itll be when it should be. #followthecop
7. Gotta have a crew.  Gotta be thorough. Once success arrives, the longer everyone feels they’re getting a fair share, the longer your reign.
8. The more honesty you include, the better the lie.
9. Most of the people who say what you’re doing is dumb will be among those who say you’re a genius IF what you’re doing eventually works. #zerosum
10. Last year I moderated a relationship panel. The issue of marriage was pervasive. The discussion of Love was narrow. That still bothers me.
11. #Bonus Go into a bar & break out your computer. People will stop thinking you’re a douche if you order Wild Turkey neat.  Its street cred.
12. #Bonus Said it before. Saying it again. Camel  Hair. #getchusome. Wear it. With Anything. Keep one clean, make one bummy.
13. #Bonus Free Content is Cool! But users must fund creativity. Hungry Artists are brilliant. Starving Creators suck… bc they aren’t eating.
14. #Bonus Being an asshole will get you far. Being charming will get you farther.  I’m on a journey to see where being a charming asshole goes.
15. #onetogrowon Power is in the People. As constituents & as consumers. Politicians & Corporations remember this. The People tend to forget.

A #Jovibonus – a good body roll will always make you feel better.  And probably the person watching.
